New Listings on Madeit

I thought I might take a break from the normal booties and listings that I have in my madeit shop and try something new.

This is what I decided to make.

I thought they were very colourful and have found them great with my little boy who is in the next photo being very defiant about having his photo taken. I put one that looks a bit cuter too to make up for it though.

Isnt he cheeky!!
I have had a whirlwind weekend this past weekend. My sister and I had a birthday and she flew in from NZ to spend a long weekend and come out with my friends to celebrate. A group of us went out to a restaurant and dancing. It was a great time. The best way to spend your birthday! My mother in law also flew in and came out with us so we all had a really nice time. It was a welcome break from dealing with the house on the market and all those horrid open homes we have had to prepare for.
Now I am nice and refreshed I am onto preparing for the next market coming up on the 22nd at Nunawading Council buildings from 8.30am to 2pm. It was a great day last month and all the customers were lovely, braving the cold to come out and see all the stalls. Looking forward to the next one! Come and see me if you are out and about.

Markets Updates

OK, it is my turn after months of getting away without blogging.

Market update

There have been two markets so far this month with one to go next week. The first one was Northcote Makers Market and was the first one being run. It was a great day and there was great shopping all around. The organisers had thought of everything and there was entertainment for the kids, food, great craft and entertainment. What more could you want for a nice afternoon out.

I took photos that are really lousy and so cant post them at all. Next time I promise to take my camera.

The second market was at the Heathmont Baptist Church fun day for the Heathmont community. It was so well organised and there was so much entertainment and activities for the children. They even had a very cute merry go round. Sammy would have loved that but he was in bed by then so missed it all. It was a really fun day and I had a ball. Again I do have better photos of this one but they are on my phone and I have to get them off so maybe tomorrow.

The next market is at Nunawading Council Buildings this coming Sunday and I am frantically trying to make more colouring wallets as they seem to be selling really well. I guess Christmas is coming up and they are something a little different than the norm.

This is my latest one for boys,

I has little diggers and trucks all over it. I thought it was very cute.

My sister sent me some really nice girly fabric too with butterflies on it but I have quite finished sewing it all up so will take a photo soon.

I am just trying to get a few things made for the market and Christmas stock for the shops before the house sells and I have to pack everything up for a while. Not sure what I will do then!

I am blogged out already and have a huge day tomorrow with work and keeping Sammy entertained too so I am off now.

If you are around come and see me at the Nunawading market and pick up a postcard that has a discount voucher on it for using when purchasing our items online. Just in time for Christmas shopping. See you there!

Craft Room Update - Its Finished!!!

I have finally got a chance to load up the new photos of my craft room. It took days to reorganise everything and I think it got worse before it got better!

Now you have to remember this space was full of all the things that had no home...wool, fabric...! I've actually just moved Mum's chair under the window so I can look into the room instead of out the window at a fence!

Now it all lives here on the shelves if I use it often and in the cupboard if I don't. Half the shelves are for display of completed projects and the other half are filled with my yarn and fabrics so I can see the wonderful colours and may be inspired to use some of it!

And the books are the ones which were special to me and I want to be able to see them more often.

And I can finally use my sewing table again! Yeah! It is even a bit tidier than this now because I posted all the notebooks off - but I forgot to take a pic of them finished - and I sent the box on the left off for my twin sister's birthday last week and one day she will send me one in return.

Craft Room Update

Well it has been a bit of a whirlwind and I have only just got back to update you all on the progress of my craft room. My birthday celebrations seem to have lasted almost an entire week, which is staggering given that I wasn't going to have a party at all! I have had visitors, 2 dinners, loads of outings with friends and beautiful gifts. Now I need to stay home and recover!

So here are the shelves my husband had built for me. I almost forgot to take a pic in my excitement to load them up! I couldn't bring myself to turn around and take one of the rest of the room because it was so bad. Actually I couldn't get into the room anyway!

I had to show my family the shelves when they all came for tea (there were 33 people here - all parents, brothers, sisters, partners, nieces and nephews - we have a big family) but I could only take a few at a time and I couldn't fit in the room with them!

Today I am going to take more pics of the finished room to show you next time I get a chance to write. And I am going to finish some orders that need posting as well!

Update on Craft Room Reno

Well I finally have a chance to update you on my renovation going on in my craft room. I am going to show you the before pics because I thought we better start at the beginning.

This is my sewing table which is happily messy. I was actually making bags at the time. You can see them drapped over the machine on the right. Please don't judge me. I know it is a mess and have put up with it for 2 years.

This was my mother's chair and it has always been kept clear of the clutter. A peaceful place to sit and mull over what to do next (sometimes you have to keep your eyes shut though).

It is just a storage problem which I tried to solve using cardboard boxes. Only the amount of stuff grew and so did the number of boxes.

And the teenage children thinking they could add everything they didn't need anymore to the pile didn't help either.

So that is the sorry saga of my craft room. Often it looks better than this but when I start creating I tend to make a mess and then I have to clean it all up before I can do anything else.

But my darling husband has ordered me new shelves for my birthday and I am going to get rid of all the boxes and ALL the junk!!!

Preparations for Christmas and an Update on the Progress of my Craft Room Reno

Today among other things I have been working to prepare things ready to sew up. Here is a pic of the 12 notebooks I now have to put together ready for my next posting bundle. These ones have some Australian themed fabric with Koalas on them and a few different types for children. I found an awesome piece of fabric with trains on it for boys- the old fashioned steam train type! And a pretty pink butterfly one for girls.

Hopefully I will be back tonight to post an update about my craft room because I have worked extra hard to make it look great! I am very inspired to get to work in there now but unfortunately time is not on my side this evening and I will have to wait a bit longer. So pics soon I hope!

Handmade Christmas Ornament Swap 2009

As there are only 85 days left till Christmas and things start getting a little busy we often can’t manage big swaps… so…. how about just a little swap ?

Clare from Clare’s Craftroom and Daisy Quilts have joined forces to arrange the “Handmade Christmas Ornament Swap 2009”.

This swap is an easy one for this time of the year as it’s a very small swap.. so small in fact, that it’s made to hang from a Christmas tree…. and one could be on your Christmas tree if you’d like to join us!!

The swap is open to all those with a blog in Australia and overseas. To participate you must be willing to mail overseas and honour your swap commitment.

The details: All players will be allocated one swap partner. You will send directly to your partner and she will send directly to you.

You will make and send one only gorgeous handcrafted Christmas tree ornament and one lovely Christmas Card for your partner (nothing extra). The ornament will measure no more than 5 inches (approx) and should be handmade by you with love and care. (Example: Make something special that you would love to receive yourself. Please do not cut out a paper star and send it to your partner.)

Here are some ornament ideas.

All ornaments must be mailed by (and including) the 1st December and should be suitable to send in the mail. Postage to overseas will need to be sent by Airmail, so our partners receive their little bundle by Christmas day to hang on their tree.

Clare and Robyn will be posting links to more ornaments and (hopefully) some finished ideas just in case you need some extra inspiration .

So…. if you would like a small tree ornament (no bigger than 5”) handmade especially for you by another friendly blogger sign up now!

Please take the button from the sidebar to add to your blog and let’s have some fun making bloggers trees the best ever this Christmas!

Sign ups will take place here at Daisy Quilts until (and including) 1st November.
